Digital Scrapbooking: Type Around a Shape with Photoshop Elements
I do not think it is possible to make a type path in Photoshop Elements so I have made some paths around shapes that
might be useful in your layouts. Download the shapes HERE then follow the instructions to change the type.
You may resize the shapes and type and change the font to suit your scrapbook page.
1) After you have downloaded and unzipped the provided paths, open the shape that you want to use on your layout in Photoshop Elements.
2) Duplicate the file (File>Duplicate) then close the original so you do not overwrite and lose your path.
3) Select the Text Tool. Click anywhere on the type then Select>All. Type what you want.
Change the font and font size if desired. If the shape has corners, you may have to add spaces at the corners so the
type goes around nicely. When you are happy with the type, commit the changes.
4) Simplify the layer. Layer>Simplify Layer.
5) Copy the type. Select>All ( or Ctrl A) then Edit>Copy ( or Ctrl C). |
6) Open your layout page. Paste the type on to the new page. Edit>Paste (or Ctrl V). Select the move tool and position the type where you want it. You can resize and rotate the type layer as you would any shape. |
7) If desired you can recolor the type. Change your foreground color chip. Make sure the type layer is selected in the layers palette. Hit Alt then Shift then Bk Sp to fill the type with the foreground color. |
